White Lucy is the genre-blending project of Chase Carson (guitar) and Micah Boyce (vocals), two longtime collaborators who met while touring in post-hardcore bands. Their creative connection deepened over a shared love of hip hop, jazz, R&B/soul, and indie rock—genres that now define the sonic landscape of White Lucy.
Their debut album, "Can’t Feel Right" (2019), was recorded and co-produced with Brok Mende at Friends of Friends Recording in Chicago. The record introduced White Lucy’s fluid, collaborative sound, featuring studio drummer Daniel Bishop, saxophone from Chicago multi-instrumentalist Sen Morimoto, and guest vocals by MC/Poet Lola Honey and Houston-based rapper JT the Human.
Following a creative hiatus during the pandemic, the duo began writing again in 2021. Over the course of three years, they crafted their most ambitious project to date: "The Paradise". The album, written and recorded between 2021 and 2024, is a lush, genre-crossing collection shaped by years of growth and collaboration.
Returning producer Brok Mende took on an expanded role as executive producer—and served as an essential creative partner throughout the entire process. His fingerprints are all over the album, not just in the engineering and mixing, but in helping guide the project’s sonic identity and emotional arc.
Mike Novak (Dark Canyon, Chicago Electric Piano Co.) joined to co-engineer a variety of electric piano and synth textures. The album features performances by Andres Crovetti (drums, synths, keys), Matt Blocher (keys), and a full-feature return by Sen Morimoto.
Additional features include Chicago-based artists Semiratruth, Swåm, Dark Canyon, and LA-based TALK TALK TOUCH (formerly Jordanna). Background vocals by Khaliyah X, Wyatt Waddell, and Abbi Rajasekhar add emotional depth and atmosphere.
"The Paradise" will be released August 15, 2025 via Shuga Records (vinyl) and New Sphere (digital)—a testament to White Lucy’s evolution and fearless collaborative spirit.
