Notes
This is the second of three US variations of Rio which contains the 4:02 David Kerschenbaum remix of "Hungry Like The Wolf". There is no Kerschenbaum remix credit on the inner sleeve, even though all tracks on side A are the new Kerschenbaum remixes. There are two pressings of this second US variation:
Rio - US Version 2 pressed at Jacksonville:
ST-1-12211-Z13-RE #1 PRECISION D.L. 0
ST-2-12211-Z8-RE #1 PRECISION D.L. 0
Rio - US Version 2 (this one) pressed at Winchester:
ST-1-12211-Z15-RE1 #5 ─◁ PRECISION SM.
ST-2-12211-Z9-RE1 #2 PRECISION D.L. ─◁
Both are identical in every way except that the outer sleeve for this one does NOT contain the REMIXED & REMASTERED sticker, the mastering of Side A was done by Stephen Marcussen and the record was pressed at the Winchester, VA plant rather than Jacksonville, FL.
Track timings on the label are incorrect and carried over from the previous pressing. The timings provided here are from Tom McClintock and Ansgar Thomann's website referenced on the main Rio page and have been verified by timing the vinyl.
[Note on the different US releases of 'Rio':]
All 'Rio' lacquers, cut in-contract by TML and Precision Mastering, show a "Z" in the runout matrix and had been consecutively numbered.
Except Z-1 and Z-4, the numbering system counts A- and B-side lacquers separately and was used for all three album variants.
By these Z-numbers, the pressing plant, the album variant and the side of the record can be identified:
Capitol Records Pressing Plant, Los Angeles: Z4 (Var.1,A+B)
Capitol Records Pressing Plant, Jacksonville: Z1 (Var.1, A+B) / Z8 (Var.2+3, B) / Z12 (Var.3, B) / Z13 (Var.2, A) / Z16 (Var.3, A) / Z17 (Var.3, A) / Z20 (Var.3, A)
Capitol Records Pressing Plant, Winchester: Z2 (Var.1, B) / Z5 (Var.1, A) / Z6 (Var.1, B) / Z9 (Var.2, B) / Z10 (Var.3, B) / Z11 (Var.3, B) / Z15 (Var.2, A) / Z18 (Var.3, A) / Z19 (Var.3, A)
Rio - US Version 2 pressed at Jacksonville:
