Borderlands, originally released in 1999 as a limited edition Sentrax Collector’s CD, is now available for the first time on vinyl as a double gatefold LP. Opening with the extended version of ‘Grief‘ featuring the William Hope Hodgson text, intoned disquietly by Jhonn Balance of Coil, it closes with a bonus Tactile track.

Undulating cavernous analogue throbs shadow the drifts of perceptible pan tonalities that spread through the stereo field to construct a dense textural soundscape.

A restless anguish and palpable tension permeates this composition, as an exploration of the borderland of some unthought-of region. Transitions of place, form and existence manifest into an audible realisation of John Everall’s intensely personal reactions following the death of his mother.

Borderlands exposes the intolerable ache and impenetrable desolation of loss.

This posthumous release was arranged in agreement with John Everall prior to his death on 26th September 2014.
