Holy moly. Emerging from an era of tube TVs and manual rewinding of magnetic cassette tape is a freethrow plethora of dream-pop from one of the few parts of Indiana that isn't a f*cking cornfield, Bloomington. However, location means nothing when it comes to the powerhouse of home recording we have here protruding from the midwest. If anything, it's a beautiful reminder that the future remains brighter and brighter as recording technology becomes more and more available to a wider (and growing) audience of talent. Compiling HOOPS' very first three tapes into wax discs of flying saucer-rivaling, spacy transcendence into a certain long-distance relationship spanning from the likes of our Purp Lord, Prince all the way to Brit-pop bedroom cassette legend, The Cleaners from Venus. So, with a gap that wide, one might start to ask some questions, but here's the thing-you're curious now, right? Shock and absorb, baby. Sale psychology aside, this is truly a blast from the past through the talent of today. Truly there is a whole lot more to our beautiful midwest than our cornfields and Culver's.
